Storing Wine In Storage Cabinets

How Cold?
Many wine drinkers wonder how cold they should cool their wine in their wine storage cabinet. Red wine should be served at 59 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit, with blush and rose wines being served at 46 to 57 degrees.
Dry white wine should be served precisely at 55 degrees Fahrenheit, while champagne and other bubbly, sparking wines must be served at 43 to 47 degrees Fahrenheit.
Construction
While a wine storage cooler and a wine storage refrigerator are meant to be tucked away under a countertop and not seen, a wine storage cabinet is usually on display as if it were a piece of fine furniture. For that reason, styling is important.
Consider the room where the wine storage cabinet will be kept. What other wood grains are in that room? If possible, the wine storage cabinet should be stained to match other wood tones that are already in the room, so it doesn't look out of place.
One of the most important aspects of a wine storage cabinet is the closing mechanism on the door. Less expensive wine cabinets utilize a piano hinge to close the door instead of a seal like you find on a refrigerator door. Buyers who purchase the piano hinge version are usually disappointed when the cool air leaks out of their coolers and prevents their wines from reaching their optimal temperature for service.
