Pinot Grigio originates in Italy and is an extremely versatile wine when it comes to food pairings. Typical tastes include crisp, clean with a fruity taste, and intensely aromatic.

The Riesling variety of wine works well with pork, chicken, and fish. Originating from Germany it is slightly sweet and a light variety with a fresh taste. This wine gets better with age.

Lastly, Gewurztraminer is a light wine ideal for sipping. It goes well with Asian foods. This one, too, comes from Germany and bases its flavors on fruity tastes like rose petals or peaches. Although not as refreshing as some types of white wine, it's truly unique.

White wine is very popular because it's so versatile and light. It's semi sweet to sweet taste makes it very popular among those who have just started drinking wines; they may then move on to drier versions as they develop their tastes.
