Young Wines Of Washington State
While California is the best wine region in the States, Washington is on the second place. Sometimes its climate better than some Californian vineyards as the daily sunlight hours are higher than in California. Washington State's wine are getting better and better. If you go there pick up your favorite.
In Washington State there are over four hundred wineries around the central and south part of the state. We can find there more than 300 grape varieties. The share between red and white wines is almost fifty-fifty. Washington wines are generally known worldwide, in more than 40 countries.
The state's wines are younger than Californians but they are on the field and make "touchdowns" if they have chance to do it. Many wines left competitions with glittering medals. If you are there, almost anywhere you can shop for quality foods and you will find some decent wines costing between $10 and $25 a bottle. Which kind of wines?
Ch. Ste. Michelle Eroica Riesling is producing in Columbia River region. Some Gewirztraminer are here as well, but only in few wineries. A great and unique region is Walla Walla Valley. Reininger Syrah is a fruity choice from here. Smoke flavored Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are also popular. With mango tastes Pine & Post Chardonnay is a must try from Yakima Valley.
Let's see more details. Columbia Valley region is laying on 15.000 acres. Chardonnay, Merlot and for example Hogue Genesis Cabernet Sauvignon are famous there. Very talented farmers are working in the valley with tremendous wines.
